Duane McKnight is Managing Partner at Marathon where he is primarily responsible for developing overall Fund strategy, operations, and administration, portfolio selection process, and facilitating investment partnerships. His investment career has been dedicated to supporting entreprenuership, especially within underrepresented business communities, having received several minority business awards and served on the board of a number of successful diverse companies and organizations. Duane is also the founding director of The Marathon Foundation (“TMF”), a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that provides advanced entreprenuerial training to founders preparing to seek various levels of institutional capital. Previously, McKnight served as Managing Director at Gladstone Capital where he led subsidiary Gladstone Financial loan portfolio efforts focusing on underrepresented companies operating in the lower middle market. Prior to Gladstone, he served the majority of his career as a principal at Syncom Venture Partners that managed a group of media and media tech-related venture capital funds primarily focused on investing in underrepresented entrepreneurs. During his tenure at Syncom, Mr. McKnight served in a variety of portfolio board positions and internal leadership capacities, most notably significant roles involving deal origination and due diligence / financial analysis. Mr. McKnight joined Syncom as a senior analyst following three years of managing Sun Company’s corporate SBIC. Mr. McKnight received his BBA in Accounting from Temple University and MBA in Finance from LaSalle University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
