Allison Alexander is a Managing Partner at Marathon, where she is primarily responsible for developing the firm’s strategy and portfolio selection process, facilitating investment transactions, and managing the firm’s investments. For decades Allison has focused her investment and legal career on supporting entrepreneurship, especially in historically undercapitalized communities.
Previously, Allison served as a Managing Director and General Counsel of IMB Partners (IMB), where she was one of four Managing Directors in a middle market private equity firm focused on providing capital access to underrepresented founders. At IMB, she served as a key member of the investment team focused on evaluating pipeline opportunities and helped to lead the formation of the firm’s inaugural $100 million buyout fund and the closing of the first deal into the fund. Prior to IMB, Allison served for several years as Vice President and General Counsel of Clark Enterprises, a privately held investment firm/family office with nearly $2 billion of AUM. While there, she was a member of the senior leadership team responsible for developing and successfully executing the firm’s investment strategy across a diverse portfolio covering real estate, private equity, and capital markets.
Allison began her career in venture at SCI Ventures, an early- stage venture capital firm with nearly $250 million under management and a mission of investing in underrepresented founders primarily in the telecommunications, technology, and media sectors. Allison was previously a corporate and securities attorney at DLA Piper, a top AmLaw 100 firm. While at DLA Piper, her practice focused on representing founders and investors in a variety of sectors in connection with venture capital and private equity transactions, technology and other commercial agreements, and general corporate, governance, and compliance matters.
Allison also served for several years as an advisor to the National Association of Investment Companies, the largest industry association of diverse-owned alternative investment firms. Allison received her BS degree from Syracuse University and her JD degree from The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
